Hello, my name is Peter Gagliardi, and I write music as a hobby. I feel that, as with any type of art, it is meant to be shared and I hope that others are able to enjoy the stuff I write too.
Band/artist history
Believe it or not, I started as a Summer Student with the Quantum Physics research group at the University of Calgary. I had just completed my first year of university and was far too junior to help with any research, but they had some 3D-rendered animations that needed sound - effects, voiceover, and music. I downloaded FL Studio to help with making the music and became hooked, immediately trying to write tracks for my favourite video game at the time, Freespace 2. Eventually I decided to start writing standalone tracks, bringing me to where I am today.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I have performed piano, keys, drums, and vocals in front of an audience (not at the same time!). It is often a nerve-wracking experience, but always rewarding.
Your musical influences
The electronic music I write is mostly inspired by video game music, and whatever concept I am rallying around for an album. I am also heavily influenced by progressive rock/metal groups, especially Rush and Dream Theater.
What equipment do you use?
FL Studio as my DAW, with an Akai Max 49 keyboard to help me experiment in real time. My go-to software synths are Alchemy, Dimension Pro, Rapture, Sytrus, Toxic Biohazard and Z3TA+ 2.
