OhItsGrizz creates cinematic trap beats with aggressive 808s and industry-ready bounce. Built for artists who want records that hit hard and last longer. No filler. No weak drums. Just pressure.
Band/artist history
I grew up in church playing drums. That’s where I learned rhythm, timing, and how to control emotion through sound. In high school, I joined a rap club started by our band teacher, who was a real hip-hop head. He taught us production and recording, and that’s when everything shifted. I used to rap, but once I saw how powerful it was to build the entire foundation of a record, I stepped back from the mic and focused on producing. Now I channel that live-drumming foundation into cinematic trap production with heavy, controlled 808s and intentional structure. Recently, I co-founded a producer collective called Gain Bangerz. We push each other to sharpen our sound and raise the standard. Still building. Just more refined.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Being a drummer first gave me real stage experience early. I’ve done live recordings and toured, so I understand performance from inside the pocket, not just behind a laptop. Playing live teaches you timing under pressure, crowd energy, and how records actually translate outside the studio. When I’m working with an artist, I’m not just the producer in the background. If the moment calls for it, I’ll step in as a hype man and help move the room. I understand dynamics when to let the record breathe and when to turn the energy up. Studio precision. Stage awareness. Both matter.
Your musical influences
My production is influenced by heavy hitters and hungry creators alike. Southside showed me how authority in drums can carry an entire record. Minimal, aggressive, confident. No extra movement. Wheezy influenced my approach to bounce and space. His ability to keep things clean but still emotional is elite. Smatt Sertified brings that polished trap energy that still knocks in the streets. And then there’s creators like NICKJOE proving you don’t need a major cosign to push crazy sound design. The internet changed the game. Talent is everywhere. I study the greats. I respect the new wave. Then I filter it through my own discipline and drum background. Influence is inspiration not imitation.
What equipment do you use?
I keep it simple and intentional. A powerful laptop. Quality headphones I trust. And if I’m in the right setting, a Bluetooth speaker to test how the low end translates in the real world. My go-to DAW is FL Studio. It’s unmatched for drum programming, piano roll control, and workflow speed. For the way I build records structured, 808-driven, cinematic it gives me everything I need. I’m not gear-obsessed. It’s about ears, discipline, and execution. Expensive sound doesn’t come from expensive equipment. It comes from control.
