Misery Loves Company (IS)

Misery Loves Company is an Icelandic acoustic duo, known mostly for being extremely loud for just two guys with acoustic guitars, but also for growling depressing and/or evil songs out in bars and occationally men's rooms.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Icelandic folk/blues/country/polka/madness duet. Misery Loves Company was founded in 2002, with no knowledge of any other bands with the same name. It now appears there are several bands, worldwide, of this name, but it also appears that we don't give a damn. We play folk, blues, country and insane music, and try to mix insane jubilee with extreme melancholy. Originally we tried to sound as much like Tom Waits as we could, but today we've expanded our sound, to try to create something of our own, although there are some aspects of our Waitsian origin still left. In terms of songwriting we've veered more towards Leonard Cohen, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Nick Cave and several others in latter years. In terms of sound... We're not sure where we stand. Misery Loves Company has played all around Iceland, and is trying to get an album out. For info, booking, etc. please drop us a line at ek@eyvindurkarlsson.com.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We play certain dives in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, most notably the legendary Café Rosenberg, where we perform on a regular basis.
