McKenzie Wilson
At nearly 16 years of age, McKenzie Wilson has already performed at many places that most musicians only dream of. She performed at the 2008 & 2009 CMA Music Festival in Nashville, the Opry Mills Mall in Nashville, the Pepsi-Cola Roadhouse near Pittsburgh and the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. She is scheduled to perform again in 2010 at the CMA Music Festival at Big Shotz where she will be hosting her Fan Club Party. This will be a full band show followed by a meet & greet opportunity. Her vocal talents are only surpassed by her songwriting skills. Her Just Smile cd includes a total of nine songs and six of those songs she wrote herself without a co-writer. She is not only talented, she is a wonderful person as well, often giving up her free time to sing at charity events in Central Pennsylvania which is where she has lived her entire life. McKenzie is a supporter of Autism Speaks and has organized several events herself to raise money for this cause. Starting in 2009, she is the frontwoman in her own Country band and will be performing mostly in the Northeastern United States and the Nashville area.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Band is practicing regularly and debuted on the local cable tv channel where we live, Comcast Channel 17!! We are playing this summer in Central PA and will be hosting my fan club party at Big Shotz in downtown Nashville during the CMA Festival on Friday June 11th at 2:00!
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes, I have been performing regularly as a solo artist since I was only 9 years old. In a typical solo set, I will play half with my guitar and half with accompaniment cds. I also play the piano. With my band its always a full live show.
With my band, we always play live!!!!!! We will be playing in the Northeast USA.
My most special moment was, In 2008 attending my first CMA Festival and singing there!!
Your musical influences
Taylor Swift (I just wish I was tall and skinny and beautiful like her!! & so talented. I love her songs.) Miranda Lambert, and older artists definitely influence me too. Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline and Hank Williams. In my shows you will hear an even mix of my originals, new country songs and older ones too!!
What equipment do you use?
My guitar is a Crafter acoustic-electric. I also play piano & keyboard but I am hoping to upgrade to a new one soon!
Anything else?
:) JUST SMILE!
