Last of her kind Last of her kind
The techniques and methods I use cover music concrete, sonification, spectral transformations, modular compositions, digital manipulation of acoustic sounds etc. I like to think that when the experimentation ends my experience of creating more traditional music forms results in arrangements that are more listenable and human than some of the experimental music currently being created. Much of the music also includes a certain playfulness and humour.
Band/artist history
Ive been interested in experimental music since my childhood in the 60s. In primary school we listened to BBC radio programmes which had music / sound created by the BBC Radiophonic workshop.
When I started to create my own music in the late 70s, I used tape and anything to hand. At very end of the 70s I got my hands on an early synthesiser and did some experimental free jazz collaborations. A few years later I was able to buy a synthesiser and started solo work.
I have released many ambient and synthesiser based albums under the name of Mark Griffiths / Mark Ellery Griffiths https://www.soundclick.com/artist/default.cfm?bandID=227132
As I have grown older my sonic output has broadened and so for a decade or so I have returned to my roots to include music from the leftfield. I publish the more experimental works under the name Mark Dalton Griffiths.
