I was born an unwanted child.
My father left when I was two, and my mother told me that he said I wasn't his, and she often told me she wished I'd never been born. I grew up with three siblings, but was the outcast of them all. We were raised in extreme poverty to the point that cockroaches would be seen inside our refrigerator instead of food. Needless to say, I had to wear hand-me-downs that caused me to be the brunt of everyone's jokes in school, so I didn't fair very well in academics, as I would find any reason to leave school or just not show up in the first place.
I can remember being spit on, punched, beaten, and told I was useless. I would often escape to a quiet place and listen to music, because it was the most beautiful thing in my world.
At 17, I weighed in at 116 pounds, which was just enough at 5' 10" to join the Army, which my mother gladly signed me into. After 8 weeks of Basic Training, I weighed 136 and was 6' 1" They sent me to Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD for my schooling to be a tank mechanic, and it was there I learned to play guitar. I went to Germany after that, and bought a Hohner Acoustic and continued teaching myself to play, and I started writing songs there; nothing to really speak of, but the seed had been planted. Since then, songs pour out of me from time to time, and I'm still very poor, so I record them all myself and have taught myself the basics of production enough to make them sound OK enough to share with people, but it's hard to get people to listen to my simple attempts at music when the industry is flooded with hacks who have no clue what music truly is. Salvation. To the few of you who will hear these songs, I hope they touch your soul, and I hope I am not judged too severely by God that I couldn't succeed with them enough to touch the world.
