My name is Makhosana, I was born in Mamelodi, Pretoria in the April of 98'. I got the nickname "Mako" from my name. I'm an artist at heart honestly, and I love photography and graphic design, those are my "computer hobbies", they go hand in hand. Then there's music...Band/artist history
So I started making music back in 2014 and at that time I was making music based on my favorite jams, so I was basically redoing songs with my own lyrics, then in 2015, I released a mixtape titled "SLAMxGOD" and on that ep I was basically testing my skills, trying to see whether or not I can actually rap for myself, and actually could.
Then I got serious, I started making beats and that was basically to "find my sound". I only released music again in 2019 and that was mainly because I had no equipment to release good music, plus I was still in high-school. When I made my "come back" I released a mixtape titled "RAP Archives" and these were the songs I had been making since 2015.
After RAP Archives I worked on an ep that turned into an album and it was based on all my failed relationships that led me to feel lovesick, so I titled it "LOVESICK". The songs that did not make it on the album mainly because the beats I used weren't mine got put in an ep that I thought about releasing on one Sunday morning, so I titled it "Sunday Music".
On March 27th 2020 I finally released LOVESICK and it was a bitter-sweet moment for me, I was excited, but at the same time I was sad because I did the album all by myself, I had hoped to work with a few singers, even if it was just 2, but the ones I asked did not really pull through for it.Have you performed in front of an audience?Yes, twice at my high-school. Those were the only two times.
Your musical influences
My biggest influence was A$AP Rocky and I just loved the person who he was at the time, later on I struggled finding a new influence and I kept hearing "You gotta be your own influence" in head. So that's what happened. When I heard how much of a story teller Nas was, I was hooked and I thought "that's what I need to do with my music"What equipment do you use?
I use a Behringer C-1 mic
and a Wharfedale 502 USB-mixerAnything else?
For me now, music is a both a way I vent and get closure. I tell my side of the story through my music.
