Maggie has always been a singer and an actor. She studied acting, voice and musical theater while enrolled in the musical theater program at National-Louis University in Evanston, Illinois in the early 1990s. Her education there included vocal training with opera singer David Holloway, vocal and ear training with former Broadway musical director Patrick Holland, and physical theater classes at the Actor's Gymnasium at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center (home of the Piven Theatre). She performed in numerous productions at NLU, including in roles such as Georgeanne in Five Women Wearing the Same Dress (by Alan Ball, Screenwriter of American Beauty), and Titania in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Maggie's passion for singing, acting and dancing led to her early success in musical theater productions such as The King and I, Fiddler on the Roof, and Nunsense with The Rising Stars, a local Chicago community theater group (featuring Eugene Dizon, former Musical Director of Porchlight Theatre and current Business Manager at The Mercury Theater in Chicago). Maggie moved to Los Angeles in the late 1990s, appearing as an extra in several television shows and independent and feature films. Shortly after moving out west, she returned home to Chicago, where she appeared again in background roles in several feature films and started freelancing as a lyricist/vocalist. Some of her lyrical/vocal collaborations include songs and other samples with electronica composer Steven Frank of HigHrise Music. Maggie's lyrics and haunting vocals are featured in songs such as "Moment," "El Train" and "Say Goodbye," some of which have been purchased by Global Graffiti Music. In May 2000, Maggie completed an internship at The Goodman Theatre and threw a party to celebrate, where she met composer/rhythm guitarist Angie Jackson through a mutual friend. They began a contemporary Acoustic/Folk Rock duo, Jackson Daly, and played all over Chicago, the Midwest, and Los Angeles until disbanding in 2005. Having been compared to such artists as Joni Mitchell, Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, Gwen Stefani and Laura Nyro, Maggie prides herself on her unique voice and multi-octave range, as well as her 'saucy' lyrics. She is currently writing and researching her next project. Some of her influences include: Colbie Caillat, Duffy, Adele, Sheryl Crow, Dido, The Carpenters, Patty Griffin, Sinead O'Connor, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Tina Turner, Sarah McLachlan, Indigo Girls, Alanis Morrissette, Gwen Stefani/No Doubt, Pat Benatar, The Bee Gees, Billy Joel, Elton John, The Eagles, Concrete Blonde, Eminem, Blues Traveler, Pearl Jam, Prince, Stevie Wonder, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chicago, Air Supply, Queen, Pink Floyd, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Dolly Parton, Reba McIntyre, Wynnona Judd, Trisha Yearwood, Garth Brooks, Frank Sinatra, Etta James, Marvin Gaye, Enya and The Beatles.
