Locks Musik comes from determination.As a young artist I was starving for someone to let me in their studio and bless the Mic.It wasn't happening like that.After endless disappointment paying for studio time and our music not coming out like we wanted it.We decided to buy our own studio.Track Smiff became my producer i always wanted.He'd be banging out beats and sit behind him and write.I would make 2 beats to his 20 lol.Track Smiff produced our First Companies Release Far Rocks Finest in 2001.I produced the first record on the cd Far Rocks On my first beat lol.Track Smiff also produced my solo Album Matlock 006.I produce 3 tracks on that album.After my album 2009 i Got into video and photography and got me a Tv show called GBM TV. It was fun I was producing my own music for my own show.Now in 2018 I just released my solo Album produce by Me lol Locks Musik. Gbm Entertainment Inc started in 2001 with our first release Far Rocks Finest independent.We had our own distribution.We had 60 mom and pop stores in New York.We did the foot work and the stores loved us.It was a success for us and Artist on the Album. Then I dropped my Solo Album Matlock 006. We performed on the underground scene and made some noise.The experience gave us the raw feel of hip hop selling cds hand to hand getting face to face responses from our customers.We would go through the cd and let them hear it.It was nothing like it collecting funds for our talents.We were known as the Getto Business Men.Gbm stands for Generate Business and Money as well as God Bless Me with these talents.17 years later still doing it.The passion never dies it just gets stronger and stronger with time,Like fine wine.GBM for Life!!Have you performed in front of an audience?We had two performances we'll never forget.The first one was at Uptown comedy it was my brothers birthday.In between sets they ask who could snap/or crack jokes.I surprised my brother and raised my hand.I went on the stage and said i can rap.I spit sixteen bars and the crowd loved it.From that show we met a Special lady that said I'm your manager.She then had us perform in Staten Island at a ceremony for the WU TANG CLAN. That was so crazy right before we performed me and my brother went outside to puff the magic Dragon,and out of no where Method Man Walks Up with Boombox on his should looking like he was gliding or something lol.I was star struck. He just dropped M-E-T-H-O-D Man. He chilled with us took pics with us and my sister.and went in the club.Right after that me and my brother hit he stage.Ill never forget that we only had one mic passed it back and forth and nailed it.Im smiling writing this took be back lol.
Your musical influences
My influences tribe, leaders of the new school, krs, mobb deep, dr dre, wu tang, rza, kanye, nas,j cole, ice cube, snoop, outcast just good music !What equipment do you use?
I use the mpc 1000, asr x pro, But now I found a new love Reason 10. It def was a challenge learning reason.Going from meat and potatoes to digital was intimidating.But determination got me producing mixing and mastering my own music.In the future i plan to make tutorials because I know how challenging it can be.Anything else?
