Observational songs with a northern twang. Lexico make Indie Guitar Pop about everything from bullied children and Saturday night fights to drinking heavily to forget and cigarette rolling papers. Oh, and they hate The Foals.
Band/artist history
Benni used to drum for Captain Dangerous (a Nottingham based band) but after leaving decided to pick up a guitar and start writing songs. The results of this were The Hymn for the Rizlas and Broken Hearts and Broken Homes. After playing these on his own around Lancaster he was aproached by a number of people to join in and make the songs sound bigger and better than one man and his guitar can do. There was a big folk thing going on in Lancaster when he moved back there which he was so desperate to avoid and so they have played the majority of their gigs outside Lancaster's walls. For a period of time, they were known as Benni and the Clemsons and were notorious for never having a permanent bass player. They were helped out a number of times by Les "Fruitbat" Carter of Carter USM fame who is a fan of the band. Les played as many gigs with the band as he could, but there came the point where is just wasn't viable to carry on in this way. Renaming themselves Lexico, they acquired a full time bassist and are now the band people know and love today.
