Picture for song 'Still No Pain' by artist 'LaGrand'

Still No Pain Still No Pain

This is a song I wrote with sport action in mind. It has a great tempo for action with some power guitar on top while the bass line performed by Dave Dyson adds the right amount of funk and movement.

Train Your Brain Train Your Brain

This piece has a very elegant smooth feel to it added by my partner in crime, "PJ Morgan" on the keys. The bass gives you a slight "walking" feel while the rhythm plays to both the bass and the keys effortlessly.

Have you performed in front of an audience?
I generally call my professional musicians that I am fortunate to have as friends to perform my music after I have written it. They perform and tour with the likes of Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams, Najee, Tonex and stevie Wonder Just to name a few. My special moment is yet to come. It will entail a band of my choosing and a full blown orchestra performing and recording my original compositions live at a venue like The Kennedy Center.
Your musical influences
My musical influences began from childhood being the only child traveling cross country several times a year with my church choir playing the bongos at the tender ages of 8 - 11. Sitting on the piano during those same years next to my female cousin Dorcas as she played the mess out of the piano for service. I grew up on music like The Hawkins, Andre Crouch and The Clark Sisters. I started singing at church with my two sisters while I played the piano. As I was learning to play the piano from my cousin Dorcas while living in Toledo, Ohio, my family was torn apart when my parents split. My mother, sister and myself moved to South Carolina in December of 1979. Things were different forever. Later after I was allowed to listen to secular music on the radio in January 1980, it became artists like Earth, Wind and Fire, The Whispers, The Gap Band, Frankie Beverley and Maze, Stevie Wonder, The Commadores, Michael Jackson and The Jackson 5, Prince, Luther Vandross, Duran Duran, Anita Baker, Run DMC, Madonna, New Edition, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Janet Jackson, Roger Troutman, Phil Collins and Bon Jovi. My christian and gospel influences during that time were Amy Grant, Sandy Patti, Renee Garcia, Whitley Phipps, Petra, Phil and Brenda Nicholas, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Daryl Coley, Donald Vails, The Clark Sisters, Tramaine Hawkins, The Winans and Commissioned. During my high school and college years, I performed with the High Band as a percussionist and drum major and a two time All State Chorus Member the two years I auditioned. I made Honors All State One of the two years for SC both my sister and I. I also sang the "Star Spangled Banner" or school song at school functions such as banquets, games or graduations both in high school and college. In college, I was often asked to sing background vocals for student recitals or recordings. I soon began producing records on a 4 track cassette recorder which lead me to engineering school. I received my degree in "Recording Engineering" in 92'. Now I could do a project from start to finish writing, singing, recording, mixing and producing. I wanted to produce music with the quality I heard growing up and now I do.
