Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The Loft opened in October of 2007 and provides quality recording, mixing, and mastering that won't break your bank. We pride ourselves in being able to work with any type of band with any type of budget.
The Loft on 4th Studios was started by two McNally Smith College of Music graduates, Andrew Thompson and Matt O'Brien. Both are producers and some of the best up and coming engineers to come out of the Twin Cities in the last 5 years.
Andrew Thompson is a graduate of McNally Smith with a degree in Recording Technology. He has been recording, mixing, and mastering music for the last 5 years. He has worked with artists such as Myles Larson, Chasing Elroy, Brothers, The Mulholland Dr, and mastered the single "Shade of Blue" for Thru the Static.
Matt O'Brien is co-founder of Covalent Records in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Covalent Records is an independant label started in hopes of taking new artists within the regional music scene and help them produce, market, and promote themselves as top acts throughout the country. He is also a graduate of McNally Smith with a degree in Music Business as well as a degree in Recording Technology. Matt is the chief engineer for Covalent Records and has recorded and mixed records for Thru The Static, Dustin Phillips, and Jake Dilley and the Color Pharmacy. Matt is also a live sound engineer and has mixed at some of the finest venues in the twin cities.
