Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I've always been computer literate. but during the hey-days of Napster and BearShare, I became addicted to downloading torrents. Entire discographies of artists at a whim. Then I stumbled upon a pirated copy of fruity loops when I was 14. Instant infatuation. Played with that program for a couple years until I found Ableton when I was 16. I worked off a pirated copy of Ableton Live Suite (I think it was 6 or 7) for the better part of a decade until I had the bright idea to create a polymedia outlet for me and my friends. KiefNoise was to be a branch of Kief Studios. The audio side. After working with countless local artists and all the drama that comes with it, I gave up. I gave up probably 12 times since I was 16 years old. It sucks to do it alone. It sucks to not have any support or a single mfer to even act interested. Not a single person has helped me become the producer/engineer I am today. Youtube and monotony paved the way for me to fully learn and appreciate Ableton, and producing music. I still dont think I know shit though, and would love for a single peson to teach me something I don't know. I'm hungry for knowledge and just want to collab, man.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I was the vocalist for a shitty highschool band called, Suicide High. Ended up playing two live shows and getting mocked after our set. Gave up that dream abruptly when I was sent to the Youth Recovery House in Ames, IA.
Your musical influences
Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Quincy Jones, Getter, Skrillex, Mike Patton, and Trent Reznor are my fav producers I can think of off the top of my head.
What equipment do you use?
A Lenovo PC with an i9 processor and Ableton Live. No midi controllers, just an audio interface and a vocal processor.
