Kate Morrison
A unique journey of intimacy, humour and humanity. ''Kiss The Sky'' is decorated with contemporary and traditional instrumentation. Inspired by life and everyday experiences, Kate Morrison?s compositions express subjects of love, friendship, human struggle & social issues, the environment and chocolate! Influenced by genres of music from all eras, the songs on her two albums are an eclectic mix of folk-rock, blues-pop with a Celtic whisper.
Her eclectic music encompasses folk-rock, alternative-blues with a Celtic whisper, a touch of Gospel, and is somewhat reminiscent of the ''flower power'' era. The intensity of her lyrics coupled with her original melodies makes each song experience a voyage to remember!
Originally from British Columbia, Kate traversed Canada 26 years ago to pursue her musical career in the Quebec Eastern Townships. Needless to say that from a cultural perspective, Kate composes and performs in both English and French. Performances include venues such as festivals, concerts halls, outdoor events & benefit concerts.
Intense, intimate and free of labels. ''Kiss The Sky'', Kate Morrison?s new album, seduces us with humour, a sense of hope, love and social reflection. With superb musical arrangements, pearls of poetry and a new maturity in her voice ... Kate captivates us word to word, note to note!

Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Throughout her career, even her performance venues have been unique, as she has opened for Corey Hart? she sang a duet with Garou accompanied by the Sherbrooke Symphony Orchestra, she has sung the American and Canadian national anthems at the opening of a San Francisco Giants vs. Montreal Expos baseball match at the Montreal's Olympic Stadium!... and once she performed with her band on the balcony of a chalet at the top of Mont Tremblant? that same mountain where she was inspired years later, while performing at the Mont Tremblant International Blues Festival, to write the title track of her recent album ''Kiss The Sky''.
Have you ever had a passionate relationship... with chocolate? Kate decided that she was going to write about hers!
As a child, did you ever catch a friendly toad? Kate did and ironically, as a songwriter, was asked to compose a song in French (her second language) for an association who protects an amphibian habitat! Not an ordinary song-writing task! ''Tunnel Ange Gardien'' played frequently on Radio-Canada and was used as background music in ''La semaine verte'' a report about the amphibian tunnel project, the first of its kind in Canada.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Love to play live! At any venue where people will really listen.
Your musical influences
Particularly interested in artists such as Elton John, Carole King, James Taylor, Bette Midler, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Carly Simon and Bob Dylan, Kate absorbed the essence of these classic folk artists. A personal interest in diverse music from Al Jolson, Bill Kenny, classical and Big Band through to the ''bobby-sock'' and ''disco'' eras, lead Kate to touch almost every style of music.
