KING GAVIN
It took me a good long while to try and find my sound and figure out what I'm supposed to be doing. Then I realized that I don't work like everyone else. I have
My name is Gavin A.R.A King Gavin.
I grew up in Houston Texas until I hit my teenage years. Then My family and I moved to the middle of nowhere Navasota Tx. This is where I started making music. I had no friends. I was homeschooled. Sometimes I felt like my only friend was my best friend (who I talked to on the phone) and the radio (whom I also called). This gave me a lot of time to listen to the radio. In a strict Christian home I started memorizing lyrics to my favorite songs. but I wasn't allowed to listen to a lot of what I liked and I personally felt a lot of it had stupid, unnecessary amounts of cursing in it for no reason. So I thought "well. Why don't I just make the kind of music I wanna hear" . So then I went from memorizing to copying. At this point I had nearly any artists' style at my disposal and I just switched out their lyrics with my own.
I got into Christian Rap. I got in pretty far too. The biggest audience I had was around 3,000 or so. But eventually The church started to demonize what I was trying to do for the youth and then the youth began to do the same. It was then that I decided that my message had fallen on deaf ears and it was time for me to retire my ministry. This doesn't mean that I stopped being Christian but by not trying to produce for those who could not appreciate it this allowed for my relationship with God to get a lot more real. Now I talk to Him like a real person. A real friend. A real father and King that I'm cool with. anyways. I took about 3 or so years off from doing music to do University stuff. Met a few artist in the dorms which helped keep me in practice and kept me learning. Then I just went silent for the last 2 years of college as I finished up my second degree. Now I'm back. And after learning so much and growing so much I realize that I have no limit to what I can create musically. I'm not stuck in one genre. If I really wanted to I could do it all. but in an attempt to find my "IMAGE" my "brand". My "Sound". I am gravitating. and that gravitation pulls me towards Hiphop & R&b Alternative spotify type stuff.
Bottom line. You need to listen to know.
YES I DO. I PLAY IN JUST RANDOM PLACES.YES I LIKE IT,AND PRETTY MUCH EVERYTIME IS A SPECIAL TIME.SOMETHING ALWAYS HAPPENS.
That's what I said like 7 or so years ago. I haven't performed live in a while but would love to get back to it ASAP with fresh tracks.
