Kevin Boyd aka K. Boyd was born and raised in Memphis, TN. He didn’t get into hip hop music until 1997 when his older brother played Three Six Mafia’s “Chapter 2: World Domination” for him. This became the turning point in his musical life. Having always been a fan of all music, K. Boyd began listening to hip hop as often as possible. Once he got to high school, K. Boyd began to write rhymes to popular songs and he spit them for his friends. In 2002 he started to focus on writing songs and also began to learn the process behind producing tracks. While in college K. Boyd began talking and working with other artists including B. Jizzle, Dizzy D, C. Baker, Lil Smurf, & Renegade. He took advice from then and in May 2006 released his first mixtape, “Time 2 Shine”. He followed that cd with “I Need Money” in September 2007 while engineering and mixing the entire cd himself. In the fall of 2007, K. Boyd and his partner Jack Sloan decided to create Blue Music Production, a production company focused on producing tracks as well as helping independent artists get heard in other areas than their own local markets. In May 2008, “The Bridge, Vol. 1” was released featuring tracks from fifteen different independent artists. K. Boyd followed that mixtape with his third solo mixtape “Then & Now” in August 2008. “Then & Now” was placed in several stores around the Memphis area and was very well received. With the help of Twitter, K. Boyd has now connected with even more artists from all over the world. On October 20th, “The Bridge, Vol. 2” was released featuring artists from Tenn., Louisiana, Cali., Fla., Wisc., El Salvador, and the U.K. Also, “Just Me” was recently released.
