Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Killer16Bars aka K16 aka Mouth Mc is a musical pioneer. Together with O.B. and Capt O.I.A his former Emphasis bandmates, he started the pidgin english rap phenomenon which has taken Naija by storm.
After coming second to Blakky at Lekki Sunsplash, Emphasis were offered a record deal by the now, also defunct, Premier Music headed by Dean Disi. The EP entitled BIG DEAL was released and spurned the nationwide smashes, "cool down no vex", "which one you dey" & "don't surrender"
It was awesome. No one had heard anything like it and it opened the doors to Junior and Pretty and other indigenous urban acts which had been previously overlooked. The story goes on from there, to the artists we have today selling platinum albums.
Emphasis were in the middle of making their debut album, when the group disbanded. This was partly due to Interfering parents who didn't understand and overinflated ego's by industry types and group members. Nuff said.
K16 moved to England and went undercover developing his own individual sound. Having tried a host of producers, he realized that nobody was going to ever totally get it and thanks to Intel with the fast cheaper chip and Korea entering the data storage industry, it was actually possible, affordable even, to set up your own studio.
Around this time, K16 hooked up with Un-seen his business partner in Zerob1productions/ikukurecords and together they set up The Lab. Here they went to work and gradually, the sound began to materialize.
In January this year work began in Earnest on "Wetin Dey" K16's debut album slated for release late summer 2008 to be followed closely by "Paranoid" by Un-Seen and "The songstress" (working title) by A.D.A
