I'm a singer-songwriter, so, for the most part I peddle my songs alone. When I do play with others, I most often play with my husband, Barry Crannell. We call ourselves Heart and Hammer.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Some, with husband Barry Crannell. I prefer concert venues to club venues and think my music/personality is more condusive to that environment. Do I like performing? I suppose I have a love-hate relationship with performance. One special moment....we were doing the Heart and Hammer Tour with the whole band in 2002. We had a gig in this tiny little wine bar in a high end strip mall. There were four of us that night...and one person in the audience...yes, one person. You've had those gigs. Barry went to the restroom and Carl Smith (percussionist) and I were just messing around with a new song. I don't know what happenned, but somehow one of those absolutely magical momemts bloomed. The music soared, the drumming was amazing. Guitar, drum and vocal rang like bells through the empty strip mall and stayed suspended, echoing. When we finished the song, Carl and I just looked at eachother, jaws dropped. Barry came into room and whispered, "God...what was THAT?" And then we did it again...
