Josh Nickel
My name is Josh Nickel, I was born in Kelowna B.C. Canada but I Only lived there till I was five my parents moved to Mexico which meant I had to tag along also since I was to young to make a choice.
So I ended up growing up in a small town way down in Mexico called Puerto Escondido a place a bit hard to find on the map but has beautiful beaches, inspiring sunsets and great waves and not much else
I noticed I had an interest in music since I was very young when my dad taught me the tunka tunka on the drums, but it didn’t take me long to figure out other beats and on the way other instruments too.
When I was 20 I moved to Australia and studied Music & Arts in Sydney and discovered how much I loved to write music and decided this is what im gonna do.
Ive recorded this album “LoveLife” thanks to many friends that have inspired me these past years and helped me along this journey that has just begun.

Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I have played live, it is a bit hard when you don't have a band. hmm a special moment had to be when a fan came up and tucked 100 pesos down my shirt... yup that was interesting.
Your musical influences
My musical influence are like from all over the place, The Beetles, ACDC, Brian Adams, AeroSmith, The Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra, David Gray, Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz, Gavin Degraw, Muse, Foo Fighters, Priscilla Ahn, Bob Marley, Brooke Frazer, and like a whole bunch of others... I love music.
What equipment do you use?
I use a takamine G SERIES JUMBO EG523SCB as my acoustic, for my electric I have a Gibson SG also an Epiphone Les Paul. for my pedals I have an ibanez ts9, a jekyll & Hyde, line 6 DL4, Line 6 constructor, Boss tuner, ernie ball jr. volume pedal, and a voodoo power supply. for mics I use a trusty sure sm58.
