Band/artist history
Even though he did not received an academic musical formation, he developed a natural talent to compose and to conceive the music of analytical way. Although he does not come from a musicians' family, he grew up assimilating the typical music of the seventies. Perhaps his first approach to the jazz was the music of Walter Murphy and later he was influenced by the work of Chick Corea, Paquito D'Rivera, Oscar Peterson, Tom Jobim, and Claude Bolling, among others. Also he is devout of the Mexican folk music and the Afro-Cuban music.
Sandoval is a multi-instrumentalist who started playing piano at the age of 10, in the musical group of his primary school. The drums were the second instrument that caught his attention. Later he learned to play guitar, bass and percussions. Finally he gains knowledge of trumpet, trombone and saxophone.
Since he was 10 years old has participated in several musical groups, from the school groups of the primary and high school. While he was studying at the Faculty of Architecture, he gathered with other talented musicians to create a jazz quartet that was looking to get fresh sounds across the exploration of different jazz subgenres.
Since 1992 he has realized autodidactic studies of musical theory and harmony. At the age of 13 he made his first compositions and some years later began his own arrangements of several musical pieces, combining sounds of jazz with different styles, creating genuine musical textures.
Currently he is working on his own jazz-fusion project, from which is his most recent album production. In addition he is deputy director of the Jazz Orchestra of the Centro Universitario Mexico and keyboardist of 33 Revoluciones.
