Johnny E

Drive through the diverse urban jungle along the I-5 corridor from Tacoma to Seattle and i'm sure you will hear a euphoric mixture of various musical genres with unique sonic qualities. As diverse as Seattle is; Johnny E's music takes it a step even further. Stemming from a deep appreciation of the R&B music of the late 70s, you can be sure that this talented young American-Latino artist is never faking the funk. Active since 2005, this young man has pushed his love for music through countless hurdles and continues to develop his sound with nothing but pure and raw talent. Coming from a Mexican-American family, Johnny E brings a pleasant but diluted Latin-Jazz influence to an already original style he has crafted on the fundamentals of Hip Hop and R&B. Being the open minded musician he is, you can expect to find echoes of House, Brown Eyed Soul, Afro-Latin Percussive music, and a touch of Rock that will surely bless your ears. There is no doubt that this young man will make a comfortable mark for himself in the ever-expanding world of modern music.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I started out with FL Studio when I was 13 years old. I was making simple beats here and there but soon after I decided to get serious. Now all I do is develop my sound as I go.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I sometimes jam out with a couple rock buddies, me on the keyboards of course just making those raw melodies. I love it.
Your musical influences
Battlecat, James Brown, B Cox, Keith Sweat, Soul, R&B.
What equipment do you use?
I use Cubase as well as third party plugins. I'm mostly software based but I try to integrate as much hardware as I possibly can.
Anything else?
I want to give a special shout out to anyone that supports the music. It's a difficult thing trying to blow up in the Pacific Northwest but we have a dedicated fan base that shows genuine appreciation and love for what we do; to anyone supporting local artists: I tip my hat to you.
