Joe The Butcher
Pro DJ/Rapper/Producer. Basically, I was Born in South Philly to parents that owned and operated their own artist management company. I had an instant attraction to music and soon became an avid vinyl collector. I began Dee Jaying in high school for fun but it soon became a hobby and then a career. Later I started rapping with "Keez" in North Jersey and we became the "local celebrities". After a few years I moved back to Philly and started DJ-ing full time and taking my music to the next level. I'm currently in Virginia working with producer / emcee: "Wan" as well as a host of other local talent. D. Strange, Mic Sicc and J. Black.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
As a DJ I have had the opportunity to play in many venues around the USA. My favorite city to spin is Philadelphia, however, my best moment was DJing for artist "II Face" in front of 80,000+ fans at Fort Hood Texas.
Your musical influences
My Parents had an business management co. in California so I grew up around people like Fleetwood Mac, The Commodores, Isaac Hayes, Minnie Rippperton, and Dionne Warwick. All friends and clients of my mothers. The comedic aspect of my lyrics are inspired from the man himself...Richard Pryor.
What equipment do you use?
Pro Tools in the studio, Technics 1200's for the one and two's.
Anything else?
I enjoy listening to new artists and like to hear what they have to offer. If your stuff is hot I'll let you know. If it's not I don't bash or talk trash. Contructive criticism is the best way to help fellow artists to further their efforts. Remember...we are all on the same team with different themes. Make friends not enemies!
