Jehan
I've been playing around the traps for many a year and at many a venue. I've busked around the world here and there and played at many bar and even some serious venues. These recordings are from my studio EP "Shooting Ships and Sinking Stars" but I'm still just another struggling bum trying to make sense of this life.
I like to play to small crowds and think of music as a way of forging intimate relationships with lots of people. That's pretty much what life is when you get right down to it.
I hope you like my tunes. Don't be a stranger.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I was playing in 2004 with a drummer and it was god awful. From there things picked up and, after various line ups, I now play with a percussionist and a cellist. I like a focused, intricate sound. I think we are getting close. . .
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Definitely. It's what I live for. I played around a 100 gigs in 2008 and the venues were often terrible but I still got some gems in there. I played at the Basement (prominent Sydney venue, Harry Connick Jnr and others have played there), the Annandale (big rock venue) and even a Reggae Festival in Thailand. Life is indeed a mystery. I'm still confused!
Your musical influences
Josh Pyke, Jose Gonzalez, Lior, Damien Rice, Sigur Ros, Nick Drake, Cat Stevens. I could go on for hours. It's acoustic and mellow. Lots of finger picking and lyrics that hopefully fill you with some form of vague emotion. You can be the judge of that.
What equipment do you use?
I play with an acoustic guitar and a stomp box. That gives me some extra drive when I play live.
Anything else?
I just spent a MASSIVE amount of savings on my EP so please listen! I really appreciate people contacting me about my music. It should be a two way street.
