Acoustic Folk

Introducig James W Barnhart. Accoustic guitar player, singer and song/writer. All my music is as original as my personality. If you ever get to know me, you will understand.

Band/artist history

I have been singing all my life; in churches and choirs. Started playing guitar at 19 and then played in some church folk type bands. I started playing in praise bands in the mid 90's and started a Christian rock band called "Pneuma". After a major falling out with church stuff, I started playing solo music under the name Wes James in 2001. Changed to J W Barnhart when I was able to get the jwbarnhart.com domain address. After getting tired of using Initials, I started going by Jim Barnhart. Recently, some one searhing for my site on "Myspace" asked if I was the Christian from the east or the Pagan from the west. Yes, there were 2 of us so... I started using the proper name of James W Barnhart (the pagan one). Currently, I play at outdoor markets and coffee houses and just about anything else I can get.

Have you performed in front of an audience?

I play and live in the Phoenix AZ area although it is a restriction caused by economics.

Your musical influences

It is had to describe my music and when people are put into a corner and forced to give a style, they call it "Jim's Music". It has ties with 60's folk, blues, light jazz, and just about anything else you can think of. Music style is derived from every influence I have been in contact with over my entire life time.

What equipment do you use?

I play a Martin OM-35 through a Yamaha PA system.

Anything else?

Hmmmm, I will answer this one at a different time.
