Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Versatility is the dominating quality of J Reno’s artfully violent hip-hop. He grabs the genre by the throat, infuses his own unique style, embraces diversity and challenges convention with his dangerous creativity. “Music is my life,” says J Reno. It is paramount for him and his devotion yields tremendous returns in the form of infectious hip-hop songs that help to redefine the genre while maintaining the elements of the style that bring listeners to the record stores. J Reno’s music conjures a variety of emotions in the listener, replicating his own feelings for music. “Depending on the style of music or the concept of the song, it can make me feel many different ways.” J Reno continues to relate to the listeners, and his dedicated fans by continuously crossing over and breaking the cliche's of the average hip hop artist. A strong quality of hip-hop is determination and J Reno is not lacking in that department. His dedication to music and his potent desire to succeed push him every day to reach for the top and turn out the best music he can. That’s why listeners can be guaranteed a solid performance every time from J Reno. "Ten year's ago I made a decision, and the goal has never once left my vision". As a member of the 6 man group Academy, or solo, J Reno is a force in the indie scene, and shows no signs of stopping. Born & Raised in Windsor, Ontario it is very simple to see where J's attutide, style & mindset comes from. " I'm from a heartless city, where people will do what ever they can to get over you. Job's are gone, people are desperate, and it all reflects through me and my music." J Reno is Canada's only nationally known emcee who has stepped outside the box of average hip hop and popular cliche's to create a buzz. Rather then following a trend, J continues to follow his heart, and persue his goals the way he feel's. His dedication and growth can only be spoken for by his accomplishments. J Reno has opened many major gig's in his career including setting the stage for artists like Obie Trice, Royce Da 5'9", The Dayton Family, Tech N9ne & others. A veteran to the stage, J has also gone National throughout the United States performing with Psychopathic Records "Shock Therapy Tour" in 2008 with Anybody Killa, Blaze Ya Dead Homie, Axe Murder Boyz & Boondox which went coast to coast. Not to mention, he also opened up for all dates on the Insane Clown Posse's infamous Hallowicked Tour in 2008, closing it off with a performance at the Sold Out Filmore in Detroit Michigan. His accomplishments do not just come from the stage either. J has released 10 album's in his career, worked exlclusivly on a song with certified Gold artist Shoestring of the Dayton Family & was the first Windsor rap artist to reach the billboard chart's when Psychopathic Records compilation album "Tunnel Runners" broke onto the scene at 21 on Top 25 Rap/Hip Hop Albums, which features the song " Snap Music" from J Reno. Let's not forget his 2nd stage headlining performance at the 2008 Gathering of the Juggalos, which also featured performances from ICP, Twiztid, Ice T, 3 6 Mafia, 2 Live Crew & Many other's. J Reno is seroius, and if that doesnt tell you that, then you need to pay attention to the upcoming release which he has titled "The Lunatic is Back". The album will settle all doubt, and prove that J Reno is here to stay.
