J-Lynn

J-Lynn has been writing music for over 10 years and has performed all over the east coast from Detroit, MI to Orlando, FL. His music journey started at the age of 17 when he captured a passion for hip-hop while watching those around him on his basketball team enter into free-style battles. Although J-Lynn never grasped a talent for freestyle rap, he discovered a passion for writing songs. During his early stages, as with most, it was a difficult journey learning to make music and J-Lynn struggled to gain a following. It was the death of his grandmother who always told him to continue pushing forward and to never let anyone stand in the way of those dreams that launched his true hunger in hip-hop. J-Lynn continued to push harder until finally he gained some attention with the song Go Get It feat. Godson and Krusade. J-Lynn then created a music group titled "Against The Grain" and then developed a music label titled "RocYaBody Records". It was then that J-Lynn began collaborating with numerous artists and developing his own style that became catchy to most people as he began gaining a fan base. J-Lynn then went on to write "It Don't Matter To Me" and "I Ain't Lookin" which launched more people towards his music for his catchy lyrics and singer/rap mixes. After continuing to make music both as a solo artist and as a group, J-Lynn then decided to break the group up and focus on a solo career which is when most of his songs came to light. It was then that an artist by the name of Yung JuanYae reached out to J-Lynn and asked J-Lynn to be his opening act in a concert. Never having performed, J-Lynn was extremely hesitant of stage fright and not being accepted into hip-hop; however, Yung JuanYae motivated him to perform "It Don't Matter To Me" in Nashville, Tennessee. After the performance, J-Lynn received some positive attention as a minor independent label later reached out to J-Lynn requesting him to open up for their concert the following day. This is when J-Lynn's music career really began to take off. J-Lynn felt he had very little music to offer that he felt was worthy enough to go public with and therefore J-Lynn a close friend and music artist of his known as Esbee decided to get together that night and write a new song that had to be completed, rehearsed, and ready to perform within 24 hours. Although challenging and rushed as it was, J-Lynn and Esbee stayed up all night and developed one of J-Lynn's most renown music songs to date, "The After Party". With little sleep afterward, they went on to open up for the minor independent record company the next night and it was a success. Afterward, J-Lynn was then asked to follow the label to Huntsville, Alabama and Orlando, Florida. The next week J-Lynn then collaborated with another Nashville, Tennessee artist known as Killa Zo and developed another smash hit titled "Shake It" and went on to Alabama and Florida to perform this hit single. Afterward, J-Lynn was offered a minor independent record deal and went on to sign a 5 year contract with the label that took him to Detroit, Michigan. While under the label in Detroit, Michigan, J-Lynn began working on his mixtape "Country Grammar Vol. 1" and ended up writing and developing 6 songs in a 24 hour period. Talk about motivated! This changed the game for J-Lynn as he went on to develop much of his music and gained a major fan base all while opening for numerous famous rap artists and performing with other well-known local artist in various states. After completing his "Country Grammar Vol. 1" mixtape, J-Lynn hosted a mixtape release performance in Columbus, Ohio, where numerous opening acts performed with J-Lynn. This is when J-Lynn began gaining radio promotion. J-Lynn then went on an East Coast music tour performing in Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, and Florida. During this time, J-Lynn gained a network with numerous famous artists and their artists managers. Although J-Lynn began gaining positive traction through his experience, he began having issues from within the label and a lifestyle in which he did not agree with therefore, J-Lynn decided to part ways from Detroit, Michigan which created waves from the label and J-Lynn became shelved by the label for the remaining duration of his contract unable to make money from his music without having to go through the label. J-Lynn then decided that music was not about making money to him, but more about his passion to make music and have fun therefore, J-Lynn then placed all of his music out for free and disconnected. Not as active as he once was, J-Lynn still enjoys writing music and still creates music to enjoy for everyone to listen to.
