Started out singing a capella improv and ambient singing, with Rhiannon, Joey Blake, Raz Kennedy. Went on to learn jazz phrasng from Dori Green and Dave Bergman and countless artists I have listened to all my life. Vocalists Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Betty Carter, Patti Labelle, Chaka Khan, Flora Purim, Zap Mama, Eve Cornelious, have all been big influences. I like to work out with Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderly, Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente, Airto, Herbie Hancock, Bobby Hutcherson, Freddie Hubbard, Stanley Clarke, Chick Corea, Jaco Pastorius and other instrumentalists. As far as modern produced music is concerned, I like De Phazz mixes.Have you performed in front of an audience?Performing at Sweetwater in front of many environmental health advocates, courtesy of Dr. Arlene Blum, and performing in Marin City for several Martin Luhter King day celebrations gave me the greatest joy. Recording at Fantasy records before it closed was a great honor, also courte4sy of Dr. Blum.
