"The term Ghost in the Machine, in philosophy, refers to the absurdity of the mind-body dualism concept. In rock, however, Ghost in the Machine refers to the local progressive metal band that has reigned over the Upstate since its inception in Greenville in 2006." - Clay Chapman, Spartanburg Herald Journal Thursday, October 30, 2008
Ghost in the Machine was formed in December 2006 from the remains of several bands from the Upstate region of South Carolina. After a year of writing and recording GITM released its debut album and quickly garnered a loyal following that has grown to include music fans and musicians alike.
"From a European perspective South Carolina has been considered the home of southern country. Recent observations have revealed the state, particularly in Spartanburg, to be the foundry of southern steel. Ghost In The Machine has broken the mould. To define Ghost In The Machine, forget logical functions, bang your head... hard!" - Paul Chamberlin - ARfm Radio London, England
Now in 2009 after almost 100 shows, GITM is in the process of writing and recording its next album due sometime in the late Spring. The new material lies somewhere between the familiar GITM style and new heavier grooves that will keep the audience on its feet!
"GHOST IN THE MACHINE dropped a disc off in front of the station like some kind of deranged Easter bunny. Now they're one of the most talented and hard-working bands featured on the show." - Twisted Todd, Upstate Unsigned New Rock 93.3 the Planet
We played 90 shows last year in the southeast region and we love it!! As far a special moment was when the entire crowd at one of our shows started singing with us a loudly. It is an amazing feeling to have complete strangers singing your thoughts and feelings back to you!!
We all have diverse influences but the ones we all can agree on are Dream Theater, Journey, Rush and some of the newer bands sucha as Sevendust, Killswitch, etc..

Ghost in the Machine prides itself on giving the audience the best show for their money. No drunks belting out the latest hot tune on the radio(unless it is ours!) or being arrogant asses to our fans!
