Hailing from Greensboro, North Carolina, hip hop lyricist FAT presents an amazingly fresh take on modern hip hop music by building intelligent rhymes on his love of art, his life experiences, and his battle to get his own powerfully unique voice heard. As an experienced writer, FAT is frequently compared to hip hop heavyweight The Notorious B.I.G (". . .this is what BIG would sound like if he were still around"-Mixtapes Today), as well as rap's current big man Rick Ross with a strong voice that resonates long after the track is over. FAT also sites acts "Weird" Al Yankovich and Eminem as his chief musical influences.
On stage FAT makes performing look easy as he energetically (and often surprisingly) traverses the stage with confidence that would make you believe each venue belongs to him. A talent that FAT learned by observing the showmanship of the Kenya Safari Acrobats (as seen on "America's Got Talent") while traveling with them on a multi-state tour. This talent has resulted in FAT sharing stages with genre professionals as he's opened for Gilly the Kid (Lil Wayne's former ghost writer) and DJ unk ("Walk it Out", "2 Step")
FAT has become a staple of the North Carolina indie hip hop scene earning accolades from many of the state's popular personalities, blogs, and magazines,. But, none stands out more in FAT's growing resume as his packed house performance at the prestigious Carolina Theatre (est. in 1926) on the night he won "Best Male Hip Hop" at the 2013 Bull City Music Awards.
