Hi all! My name is Geoff Ng and I love writing songs and playing guitar. I love all different genres of music, but folk music for me taps into the dark, the light, and most often the gray areas in someone's life - especially my own. As a result my music is a representation of who I am and what my values are. Sometimes I try to hard to create awesome melodies and lyrics, but being simple works the best for me. 3 years ago: Learned some chords (Em, C, G, D)
2 years ago: Wrote my first song using aforementioned chords
2 years ago: Learned how to sing and play guitar at same time (coincides w/ writing first song)
1 year ago: Bought a better guitar, then GAS hit, and now have 2 good ones (Ibanez Concord & Silver Creek T-160, which is a great solid-wood guitar if you're interested)
Now: Have about 15 or so original songs written, and most of them are better than the ones previously written - fantastic!Have you performed in front of an audience?I've been showing up at random open mic nights, and I like these venues a lot. However, I would like to perform a lot more, perhaps on the streets when I have graduated from college into the real world...
Your musical influences
The music which I grew up with is worship music, which drew me into becoming Christian.
Josh Groban has had a profound impact on my singing, although I don't sing like him.
Singing in the shower was very helpful.
