Gene McDowell and Steve Gore
Performing many of your favorite oldies, beach music, and classic hits from the 50's, 60's and early 70's.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Gene has been performing both solo and with sevral groups since the early sixties although he has been singing for anyone who would listen since early childhood.
Steve started playing guitar and singing in the late sixties and developed into a solo performer in the early seventies while living on Hilton Head Island. During this period he spent every available minute "sitting in" with the abundant group of musicians in the Hilton Head & Savanna, Ga. area.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We perform live at many locations in the northeastern South Carolina area. Most recently at the Sidewheeler restaurant on the Riverwalk in conway, S.C.
Your musical influences
How can I possibly cover all the variety of musical influences between the two of us without this becomming an essay? I would say that the primary types of music we both enjoy are the Carolina beach music tunes of the sixties. However, between the two of us, both as a solo performer and as a duo, cover everything from classic tunes from artists such as Frank Sinatra, Jim Reeves, Brook Benton, Otis Redding, The Tams, Drifters, The Everly Brothers, up to soft rock such as The Eagles, Jimmy Buffett, James Taylor, Jim Croce, Gordon Lightfoot and so very many more.
What equipment do you use?
We use a Peavy professional quality sound system to maximize the vocal quality and tight harmonies which are our trademark. To further allow us to offer such a wide variety of different types of music to our audience, we use professionaly recorded digital sound tracts.
