Hip Hop General

Wusup ya'll. They call me The General aka Gen. I've been putting in work for a few years now. I'm just trying to put Lawnside, NJ on the map and have people feel my message.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I've been to a few open mic events and I plan to get into quite the live scene more heavily this year moving forward. I remember performing at my 1st open mic when I was 19. My big bro (from another mother) pushed me out of my comfort zone and onto the stage to perform one of my 1st recorded songs. I was mad nervous at first, but I ended up getting a lot of love at that show. Fast-forward to a recent open mic last November at the age of 25, as I felt much more polished and in control of my audience. The DJ came late and lost the power to his equipment after my 1st song halfway into my set. I felt so at home on that stage that instead of panicking, I started freestyling and got the audience into it as they threw me words to rhyme off of. I decided instead of moping about not getting to do my second song in order to be eligible the judges 1st/2nd/3rd place votes, I would do the song at the end of the show anyway. I got the crowd to rock with me and even though the judges did not choose me as a winner, people were dapping me up after the show and complaining that I was the dopest performer that night. That was all I came to the show for, regardless of the outcome; the fans unquestioned respect for my skill and my message!!!.....That had to be my most special moment so far.
Your musical influences
My biggest influences are Big L, Jay-Z, Eminem and Jadakiss. Each one of them brought something unique to the table that influenced me as a kid and made me passionate about hip hop to this day.
Anything else?
I appreciate everybody that enjoys the music that I putting out there and if I can inspire someone else like the great MC's of old inspired me, then I'll consider myself a success.
