Flipo
FLIPO Artist..Songwriter..Producer. This is Seumas Keelan Callender A.K.A. FLIPO. Date of birth. 18th of April 1989. Born in the Eric Williams Medical Science Complex. He grew up in Maracas St. Joseph. Where did his name come from? The name Flipo came about like every other nick name. Where ever you are from, whether it may be from the ghetto or you are a rich kid in the big city, it’s ah part of nature for you to do something or something happens to you, the outcome now remains with you. When you are young you friends are the ones that brandish you with a nickname that fits your personality which stays with you for the rest of your life. It just so happens that with the musical talents he was blessed with, such as producing and flipping the rap game he was crowned with the name FLIPO. FLIPO is a young striving individual not just now but since he was a little kid. Out of everything he ever did music was the only thing that he couldn’t let go of. There are memories of when he was younger singing Michal Jackson songs, then when he got a little older he went to short music classes in his community center. At the end of his music classes he passed and got his music certificate. That was when he attended Maracas S.D.A. Primary School and he was now getting ready for his S.E.A. exams when exams were completed and he moved on to secondary school he then began to take dancing as a hobby and as competition. At that time everyone wanted to be the best dancer, people would tell him that he had the talent and would always push him to take part in those activities. Being one of the youngest made him special from the rest as time went on he could also tell that his mind set was different from the rest By the time he reached Form 3, he had all ready started to take rap seriously. He had it in his mind that being a rap artist had to be his profession. All he wanted to do was rap Seeing his friends rapping only encouraged him more. By 2003 he started freestyling he realized that just free styling wouldn’t be enough for him to get where he wanted so he started to do home recordings. Every time he did a recording and played it back he could hear his mistakes and that helped him teach myself producing and rapping tactics. As time went on he got better. He got linked to Pro Records through one of his friends and from there its history. He started rapping at the age of 15. During that period of time he also did Sound Engineering classes, and at this moment is a certified sound engineer. Now he is one of the top producers and rappers in the Caribbean which also makes him the youngest in the Pro Records family People ask him what he expects from this rap game...but he replied.... 'it’s not what I expect, it’s what u expect, because I am all ready getting satisfaction from what I am doing, but what motivates me is challenges. Challenges to be different, to be better than the rest. Just don’t feel that I am stopping there. My Motto Give respect, to get respect. Abide by the law' There u have it!!!
