Glass House official video
Ferric Prophet is the current work of Scottish songwriter and producer Jimmy Noble. Formed after decades in underground music, the project draws on lived experience across punk, dub, funk, and experimental rock not as reference points, but as foundations. Ferric Prophet removes everything unnecessary. The music is built around bass, space, rhythm, and voice. It is vocal-led, rhythm-driven, and unpolished written as complete songs rather than background pieces. Reggae and dub form the core, sharpened with punk urgency, direct lyrics, and forward momentum. Often developed alongside visual work by Shivery Dug, Ferric Prophet releases music as complete listening works, intended to be experienced in full. Music available for listeners and for contextual use in film, television, and visual media.
Band/artist history
Ferric Prophet comes after decades of working in underground music in Scotland. I started out in punk bands, moved through dub, funk, and alternative projects, and kept going learning, failing, changing, and surviving. Each band and collaboration shaped the way I write and listen, but Ferric Prophet is where everything was stripped back. No chasing trends, no proving anything just making music that feels honest and necessary. This isn’t a restart. It’s the result of staying with it long enough to know what matters.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes extensively, across many years and different projects. I’ve played venues and festivals including King Tut’s, T in the Park, and multiple Edinburgh Festival shows. One of the most intense moments was supporting The Selector at The Venue in Edinburgh walking up from downstairs to a completely packed room. Terrifying at first, but unforgettable once it clicked. Another standout was an outdoor Edinburgh Festival show at The Queen’s Park area, playing mid-afternoon to tens of thousands of people passing through. It was the best time of day for an outdoor set open, loud, and alive. Those shows shaped how I think about music now: it has to hold attention, carry energy, and mean something beyond the moment.
Your musical influences
Punk taught me urgency. Dub taught me space and bass. Reggae taught me feel and patience. Beyond genres, the biggest influence is lived experience repetition, pressure, survival, and instinct. I’m less interested in sounding like something and more interested in whether it carries weight. Influence shows up in attitude more than reference points.
What equipment do you use?
Apple MacBook Air running Logic Pro X KRK Systems studio monitors Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface Shure SM7B microphone MIDI / notation keyboard Epiphone bass guitar Fender electric guitar Faith acoustic guitar
Anything else?
Music has always been about survival for me. I don’t make it to impress or compete I make it because it helps me stay human. I’d like to think this work points toward a world with a bit more understanding, a bit more peace, and a lot less noise for noise’s sake. If it resonates, great. If not, that’s fine too.
