E Pettersen

Ed has been involved in Christian music since the age of seventeen. Back then, he was a founding member of Almost Heaven, a contemporary Christian group that traveled the United States ministering through music. Though never having had any formal musical training, Ed is an accomplished songwriter with over 30 songs in copyright, including Ground Zeroa song which is now part of the National September 11th Museum and Memorial in NYC. Music has always been a passion for him and he loves ministering through music both as a solo artist and as Music Director of his local church.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I started in garage rock bands. After becoming a Christian at the age of sixteen, I formed Almost Heaven and started to do concerts in large churches. I took a long hiatus from performing but have returned recently and have started doing concerts once again.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I love performing live. The bigger the crowd, the better! There's an energy that you can feel from a large audience that just can't be found anywhere else and I believe it helps my performance.
Your musical influences
In the secular world, Elton John, The Beatles and Barry Manilow have all been influences. In Christian music, Steven Curtis Chapman, Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant shaped my music.
What equipment do you use?
Sennheiser mics, Harbinger and Behringer PA equipment. Korg keyboards.
Anything else?
I'm called a singer/songwriter, but that's not quite true. I feel that the Lord writes the songs...I just write them down.
