I am a singer/songwriter in the Philadelphia area. My style is best described as alternative power pop. I released my solo CD "Another Chapter" in 2007. Prior to that I was the lead singer of the bands Broken Jones and Elroy, both of which released CDs.
Band/artist history
My official bio: For Philadelphia area based singer/songwriter, Dylan McGuire, “Another Chapter” is a fitting title to his latest album. The former front man and primary songwriter of Broken Jones, McGuire has seen his share of band changes. Those changes have led him to his burgeoning career as a maturing songwriter whose songs showcase a driving rock style with strong pop sensibilities. Broken Jones released “Better Days” in 2000 on the Lucid Music label and quickly became a fixture on the Philly regional music scene, with airplay on FM commercial and college radio and bookings in venues from New York to Seattle. After several key personnel changes, Broken Jones became Elroy in 2004. “Another Chapter” began as an Elroy CD, but McGuire decided to pursue the album as a solo project when the band dissolved after basic tracking in 2006. The result is an album that pays homage to McGuire’s power pop roots, but with a more refined sound (courtesy of producer Derek Chafin) and songs that range from finely-crafted radio-ready rock to powerful and densely emotional ballads. McGuire is currently touring the Philadelphia region and has played top venues including The Tin Angel, World Café Live, Brownies 23 East, Chaplin’s Music Café, Grape Street Pub and others. Tracks from Another Chapter are in regular rotation on 93.7 FM WSTW’s Hometown Heroes program and on HD “Graffiti Radio”. McGuire was also nominated as Best Guitarist in the WSTW 2007 “Homey Awards” for area musicians. His current band features veteran drummer Doug Wolfe (formerly of the Idle Wilds and The Rob Dickenson Band); bassist Chad Gorn (formerly of the Phoenix Trap); Jeanne Broadwell on acoustic guitar, keyboards and vocals; and Scott Reichert on 12-string electric guitar.
