Band/artist history
In the early 1990's Don won the "Best Guitarist Award" at the Kamloops Bluegrass & Country Music Festival (in Canada). Don co-wrote a comedy song with singer/songwriter Mark Holt. They called it "The Cowboy Rap". The song made it to #27 on the "Panel Report" (a publication out of Nashville) for the morning 'drive time' nationwide radio plays. Don moved to Alaska in 1995 and jumped off the plane and into the local club scene in Anchorage. He has performed with some of Alaska's best artists like Ken Peltier, Keith Juno, Frank Iarossi, Stu Schulman along with Mike Olsen, Jack and Richie of the Trade Winds Band. Don has performed in some of the hottest Country Venues in the Pacific NW from the famous Jerry Andels Ranch in Seattle to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar in Jackson Hole. Currently Don's music is being played on Americana, Western Swing, Country and Bluegrass radio shows in the United States, Canada and across Europe and Australia.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Crowds of 2 to 10,000 and always fun! I've had bar fights roll onto the stage as I played and the PA catch of fire. That was fun.
Your musical influences
Any good music. From hard and crunchy guitar stuff to smooth jazz to big band swing. If the music is good I like it.
What equipment do you use?
I use a Johnson J Station (amp) with a Roland Ready Stratocaster and a GR1 guitar synth. I use a mid '50's Fender String Master Lap Steel along with keyboards.
