D.K "Disciple of the KING" was born Derek L. Vinegar in Womack Army Hospital, Fayetteville, North Carolina on January 31,1983. DK has been doing music since a little boy in his church choir. However, the style of music changed after first hearing his older brother DaRon and his group rap in front of the congregation in a Sunday morning service. Since then DK has been drawn to hip-hop. Seeing that the music industry has several weaknesses DK hopes to help fill the void with his unique and highly adaptive flow. DK is seeking to change the misconception that gospel hip-hop is garbage, and that christians can't spit. GOD has given DK a vision and purpose for his life, that vision is simply to "Fight for the Kingdom." This is what drives him to "beast" on every track, as he puts it.
Band/artist history
I've been doing music for almost 15 years now. Just recently began to produce. I always used to beatbox and never heard anything like my beats so naturally, my beats are revolutionary... (lol)
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Mostly in San Antonio,TX. I love to perform, there's no feeling like it. I feel that music in any form is just an emotion, until someone puts a message behind it.
Your musical influences
I pretty much listen to everything , so no need for name droppin. Everyone always calls out the greats, I think that if you doin' something, you already great.
What equipment do you use?
Plastic cups and pencils.... lol I mostly do all of my beats in Reason, FL Studio, and Sonar.
Anything else?
GOD First. If you like my music manye, tell somebody bout it please. I would love to get signed. I think I bring a newness to the game. My message is clear, just listen to it. Oh, and if you want a beat, come holla atcha boi aight. Let's get this paypa' manye. ONE
