I am basically a jobbing guitarist, doing sessions or solo work
The solo work, is for showcasing my material
Have worked with all types of musicians from Blues to Rock, Folk to Jazz and Classical to Country.
I have no desire to be stereotyped as a specific style of player. So I work in all fields
Playing live is the most satisfying experience on the planet, the thrill of playing something that I've created, and have people like it. Its my kind of thrill seeker thing, the adrenalin of the live audience.
The bigger the audience, the better the thrill.
What influences me as a performer can vary upon where I'm playing, and the type of audience.
My musical influences are many and varied, obviously much of it stems from guitarists.
From rock, it is more from guitarists I have seen live so to quote a few names, Blackmore, Page, Rhodes, Young, Schenker, May, Gallagher, Leifson, Iommi, etc.
From the Blues, its mostly recordings, and there are too many to mention, but my favourite blues player is still very current, and thats a guy called Duke Robillard.
Classical, There are only really three that I listen to regularly, those are Williams, Bream, and of course Segovia.
Jazz, the two mainstays of that are Martin Taylor and some seriously old stuff with Django Rheinhardt.
My eqipment is fairly straight forward, and works on the principle of "I'm a lazy git, and I dont want to cart too much shit about".
My amplification is a Fender 110 Princeton Amp.
I also use a Carlsbro 300 watt pa for my multi track recordings.
Guitars: Electric, I use a Dean Axe as the main recording tool. I supplement this with a Black and White Squire Strat.
Accoustic: This is a fender electro classical. This one I use on all solo accoustic gigs, and its the one used on all my solo guitar albums.
12 string echo accoustic, this is used to add depth to my accoustic recordings
My Bass is an Aria Pro 2SLB, This I used with a blues band. I have Just started to use it for the bass lines on my recordings for the solo site.
Fx: The Boss GT3 is my chosen weapon. Simply cause its idiot proof. So it suits me.
All recordings are done using the Carlsbro PA and by taking a line out, I plug that directly into the soundcard of my music pc.
This has been completely upgraded, with various cards installed.
It handles both the live recording and the burning of my cd's.
I also use it to design the artwork for my cd covers.
This I built myself specifically for the purpose.
I use various software packages, to record, mix and edit the final recordings, Eg Cubase, Cakewalk, Cooledit, Soundforge etc.
