Dennis Taylor was born on January 28, 1996 in Boston, MA, and grew up in Charlestown, MA. He has loved music most of his life. When he was little his mother and grandparents would play the old Motown, 60s, and 70s music around the house. He loved it. This is where Dennis got his inspirations from Soul singers such as, Jerry Butler, Sam Cooke, William De Vaughn, Walter Jackson, The Temptations, and many more. Dennis' biggest influence is Elvis Presley. Dennis has loved Elvis since the tender age of 7 years old. He knows almost every song that "The King" ever recorded by heart. Elvis' music has influenced Dennis very much so. (Dennis also does side gigs as an Elvis Tribute Artist.) As Dennis got older, and began to develop an understanding of music, he self-taught himself four instruments, piano, guitar, bass guitar, and drums. He records his music to all of his songs
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes. I love to play live. It is so much fun to play in front of a live crowd. Especially when the crowd gets into it. I feel when that happen I perform better. I always get nervous, though, but as soon as I grab the mic and sing, they go away. A special moment was when I sang on Boston City Hall Plaza. It was great.
Your musical influences
Elvis Presley has been the biggest influence on me. But, a lot of 60s and 70s Soul music has also impacted me. Guys like: Sam Cooke, Solomon Burke, Walter Jackson, Sam & Dave, Issac Hayes etc. I've grown to love. Philly Soul is a HUGE influence on me. The orchestration from the fantastic MSFB Orchestra is just phenomenal, and makes all those songs. The songwriters, too like Gamble & Huff, Thom Bell & Linda Creed, Bobby Eli & Vinnie Barrett, are just amazing! There's really not a bad song that came outta Philly in the 70s. Motown in Detroit and Stax in Memphis are also huge influences as well.
What equipment do you use?
Speakers, mic, mixer, voice....
