Latin Jazz

An experience solo pianist who often tries his hand at multi-layered arrangements, experimenting with many different genres of music. David's personal style and improvisation is distinctive and greatly reflects his personality and temperament through his music.
Band/artist history
Playing Piano since the age of 4, David has always had a love for things musical following a family tradition of instrumentalists and singers from traditional variety acts to Ukulele players and show stars. Raised in a Family of Jazz lovers, naturally the influence would pass through and David has taken a liking to Jazz music, but this hasn't closed his eyes to many other styles and influences out there ranging from Blues and Swing to Dance, Latin and Reggae. A firm fan of the Jazz Trio style, David often aims to emulate his idols such as Oscar Peterson, Erroll Garner or the more contemporary Diana Krall (he can be heard to claim Krall's Album "A Night In Paris" to be the cure for anything, better than chicken soup!) but also occassionally takes time out to experiment with other styles, even known to pick up a guitar from time to time. Semi-professional for 3 years, David is a keen entertainer at many functions, parties and events. Most recently winning a subsidiary of the Leeds International Pianoforte Competition: The Robert Tebb Pianoforte Competition (as the only non-classical participant) where he was described by Judge, Dame Fanny Waterman as being "an Oscar Peterson in embryo. It is not so much what he played but how he played it which resulted in him being a very worthy winner."

Also formed a core part of the band/orchestra for a number of productions through the years. Particularly special moments are always charity events, helping the community; such as "Frank Sinatra Tribute Night", putting a band together in literally days or playing for the OnStage live series of charity evenings.
