AFRODITA A is a project created by RICK JESCHKE DELIZ, a passionate and talented musician and composer who plays guitar/synth/bass/theremin, and who has bled six strings for over 25 years. Rick is currently collaborating with Dr. Panic & Dr. Terror of THE MELOVSKYS. Drummer Arhkota plays with different artists such as Ceci Bastida, Chana, Zur among others. He released his solo album 'Melancholic Streets and Heartbeats' in late 2010 with special guests Ximena Sariñana and others. Bassist Archie toured and recorded with Grammy winners La Ley, Silvestre and does sound engineering in the studio and TV. **************************************************************************
Rick, born in Erie, Pennslyvania and raised in Isabela, Puerto Rico, he relocated in 1992 to Los Angeles to further his studies in music, to write and perform.After touring as a side musician with Top Billboard Latin artists and demise of the Latin Alternative Rock band SATELITE - ('Best Independent Band 2000 ASCAP LATIN AWARDS), which Rick was a founding member, he decided he needed a change. "I wanted to make the most honest album that totally represented what I was about. I'm still drawing on the same inspirations as when I was a kid: Pink Floyd, The Police, The Cure, New Order, Nitzer Ebb, Depeche Mode and Killing Joke. It had to be about the music. And I knew I had to get back to doing stuff for myself. I had to ask myself again what the fuck I was about." **************************************************************************
So Rick locked the doors in his studio and started writing on his Mac computer. "I'd find a place I'd be happy in, usually in my home studio at night, cult Japanese animation 'MAZINGER Z' on the DVD, listening to the music which inspires me, I was writing for the fun of writing again." This is an album of raw energy where the beats are the stars, and the sounds are just samples in Rick's sonic armoury. Gone are the up front vocal performances of his past bands. Mixing up Electronica with 80's Post Punk, EBM and Classic psychedelic guitar tones makes what AFRODITA A is all about. Written on a computer in a bungalow in Santa Monica, continued at an Artistic Loft in Downtown LA, and at co-producer Jose Marty's studio. Afrodita A released the first single 'Uno Dos Tres Cuatro' on the Internet. This track was mastered at the Mastering Lab, with Grammy winner Gavin Lurssen and represents the sound of Rick putting the beats back in their rightful position - center stage. ************************************************************************** The band name AFRODITA A comes from Afrodita, the Latin word for Aphrodite (Greek goddess of carnal love, sexual attraction and exquisite beauty). Adding the letter A is after the gigantic female robot warrior equipped with pectoral rockets from the cult favorite 70's Japanese animation TV series MAZINGER Z, which was televised and dubbed in Spanish in Puerto Rico, Spain, Mexico, South and Central America. Afrodita A's groove instrumentals evoke the ecstasy of European Big Beat, Ambient Electronica and Organic UK Rock with hypnotic melodies laden with melodic to dirty rock guitar, analog drenched loops, looping bass lines, textural synth soundscapes, and psychedelic wall of sound driven by hard hitting danceable drums. ************************************************************************** AFRODITA A is promoting the single 'Uno Dos Tres Cuatro', featuring RICK JESCHKE DELIZ on guitar, programming, Mexican drummer ARHKOTA (NINO ASTRONAUTA/ KOBOL) beating the skins, and Chilean ARCHI FRUGONE (SILVESTRE & Grammy winners LA LEY) playing bass. AFRODITA A tracks are available for Film, TV and Video games. Rick has already placed songs on MTV, Telemundo, Indie films and his guitar work is already splashed all over commercials and Film/TV. Rick was performs as a side musician with the artists HA*ASH, MAGNETO, CARINA RICCO, ARDNAXELA, MONGOL GOL GOL, LEVITICO, TANKE and BELINDA.
