Band/artist history
Doublelion, comes to you live and direct from St. Ann, Jamaica founded August 17, 1999.
The band's root members consist of King Hopeton, a heart-felt spiritualist, and Xsample, the wild-style revolutionist.
King Hopeton is a paramount musician and artist who started performing at the age of four.
He is the protégé of Hart Richrads manager of various succesful bands
and Steelie and Clevie (Studio 2000; Grammy Award Winners).
King Hopeton's voice penetrates the very soul of the audience,
captivating their innermost beings, leaving people connected to his message of pain, love,
change, and compassion. He has mastered instrumentation, and plays the keyboards,
drums, bass and electric guitar with much sophistication.
Xsample is a griot and poet.
Beginning at age five, X was riveted by truth and detail. He evolved to become a
master lyricist. In 2003, he was nominated for the prestigious Tonos Award given
for best song, "Conspiracy," produced by Nomi Yah.
Music critics then dubbed him, "the Tupac of Reggae."
Xsample is a dynamic and inventive performer and lyricist,
who delivers thought provoking, nail biting, never before heard lyrics.
King Hopeton and Xsample,
Childhood friends turned brothers compelled to change popular music, by exposing their roots,
culture, and African heritage through the music they live and love, which is reggae, rock,
or anything you can tune in or turn on. Both artists share their songs and stories to inspire
people of all creeds, colors, and ages in hopes to fulfill the dream of living as "one."
