Born in Compton in the early 1980’s and raised in San Diego, CA, CHRISTIAN was brought up with an element of strong poverty. With both parents being migrant citizens in a new country, his family was raised with not much to go with and forced to grow up in an environment shrouded in uncertainty. While having to deal with a constant, unwavering alcohol problem on behalf of his father, his mother was forced to pick up the pieces and raise three boys on her own.
Throughout his childhood, CHRISTIAN was bright, talented and attracted to the things of music at an early age. One Christmas, his mother bought him a toy guitar with a detachable speaker, as a gift to the young up and coming performer. Family was then gathered ‘round and forced to hear CHRISTIAN sing songs from his little heart and with lyrics only he knew. Even at that age, he knew exactly what he was destined to be: a true entertainer.
In his early teen years CHRISTIAN started to develop characteristics of his father. He started following in the same footsteps of his dad and developed a drinking habit. By the time he was 20, CHRISTIAN was not too far behind his dad in alcoholism and matched the average consuming rate of a heavy drinker at age 35. With multiple alcohol-related incidents and accidents, this once aspiring musician was now headed down a road for destruction.
Then one day, his mother’s worse fear happened. In a black 2006 Ford Mustang headed northbound on the 215 Interstate, CHRISTIAN was involved in a near-death collision while driving under the influence. With the top down and falling asleep at the wheel going faster than 90 mph, it was a miracle he survived, especially without wearing a seat belt! He woke up in a dreamy, confused state, unscathed and alive. How had a boy who’s dreams of pursuing a career in music been almost devastated by a habit he hated to admit was only learned from watching his father?
It was at this crucial moment CHRISTIAN realized this was not only a wake-up call, but a miracle! How could this happen? Why didn’t he die? And more importantly, why was he still alive? This was the very same question which drove him to looking for answers. Then one day, while on his personal quest for an explanation to this crucial event, his older brother invited him to a local Christian church located in San Diego, CA. While the church itself was rather small in size and located in a tent for early Sunday gatherings, this did not stop the young man with dying questions and a search for truth.
The young, vibrant pastor spoke a message of hope, forgiveness, a new life, and a man named Jesus. Oddly enough, this same message was what resonated in CHRISTIAN’s heart as the truth. Everything the speaker touched on was answering his questions, one by one, day after day, and quoting directly from The Holy Bible. This was it! CHRISTIAN had finally found the answer to his question: he was still alive because he had a mission to accomplish. And that mission was to tell people his story. To tell people how a life full of uncertainty, drugs, alcohol, abuse and despair headed down the wrong road, could change, could be healed and nurtured and ultimately, given a second chance.
So on a summer evening in August of 2007, CHRISTIAN made a decision to follow Jesus Christ as his personal savior and Lord. He gave himself completely to God and dedicated his new born-again life to advancing the kingdom of God on Earth, through music and a ministry only CHRISTIAN knew was right for him. Music was now the answer and the tool God had equipped him with from the beginning.
