Ceilidh
Ceilidh is a band that utilizes several traditional instruments, and non traditional, to play and entertain with Celtic folk music.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Well... Ceilidh has had several manifestations over the years. These are the manifestations/history of Ceilidh.
Celtic 5 - Some friends and I who would do vocal arrangements of our favorite Irish (usually drinking) songs.
Three Scotsmen and an Irish Lass - Those of us of the Celtic 5 who were brave enough to try our hand at recording.
Celtic Chaos - Add the tin whistle, the guitar, the Celtic harp, the violin, and mix it with a live performance.
Ceilidh - Change around some of the members, add a bodhran and you've got Ceilidh.
Ceilidh's been practicing and performing for a year and a half now, playing several coffee houses, talent shows, etc. but most of all just having fun.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We do play live, so far only at the college which the band members attend, hopefully moving forward to do a faire or something of that sort soon.
Your musical influences
Well, I can't speak for the entire band, but probably my biggest influences would be Marc Gunn and the Brobdingnagian Bards, their music is what originally got me interested in Celtic Folk music back when I was in High school.
What equipment do you use?
Let's see... a variety of tin whistles, depending upon the song, a Celtic Harp, a Fiddle, an acoustic guitar, and two bodhrans, and vocals of course.
