Cassie Lynne

Heya! I'm Cassie Lynne, Welcome to my soundclick page... Chances are.. you're seeing whatever I could finish in last minutes between projects, stuff thats going on and a search for peace... It will change, move around, and be messed with. I don't know what it will look like in between, but thanks for stopping by! So I am learning the ins and outs of becoming a songwriter. I still thoroughly enjoy singing what I write; but it is just as fun to hear someone take what I made, and create their own thing! (See: "I see the sky" @ www.myspace.com/cassielynnesmusic) I am planning this year to be a developmental year for me, and i'm honing my skills as we speak. I don't really have a band, but I am currently collaborating with many friends to help my writing skills. I've got some Simon's and some Paula's in there... I think you need both to learn and grow. So who am I writing for? well, anyone who needs songs really. I'm starting the process of finding a home for some of them; so if you're looking for songs, contact me! :) Currently: I'm writing for/with Tara Collins. She's working very very hard to get herself where she should be. To help her out, I've donated a few songs on a "cause" CD to help her with traveling expenses, and such. To find out more message me or Tara collins (on my friend space again courtesy of my myspace page) You know, life is a huge experience. Some people vent, some run, some yell; I really have to analyze what I'm experiencing. Whether its a poem, a song, or just journal yelling for later, I really go through things slowly and its a long process for me. Whatever I'm living, I usually have to put it through a very messy process that ends up with something I will re-do later. After chewing and spitting out a whole lot of stuff, sometimes something gets put up. I have about 5-7 songs being messed with right now. I am also crash learning about the recording process how to improve, and how to mix things.... what I want things to sound like, and if I even want to worry about aything except getting better at singing and playing at the same time. It's definately a process, but it wouldn't be fun if there wasn't some hard work in it. Thanks for visiting! have a great day! Cassie Lynne
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Well... I've been singing for forever. I always made up songs, but they usually just went to the wind, until I started to write them down around middleschool age, where I started to learn the piano. I'm mostly self taught, but the piano teachers I've had... they were slightly frustrated by my "bad" self taught habits. Like sitting too far away, and my fingering is atrocious. As far as vocal training... I've played with that, I took voice lessons for a year, and was in VJ Singh's choir at cwu. THat was a blast! Both helped me with my voice.. but I have to say.. Brett Manning.. that guy's program helped me unlock my voice. All i did was the tiny trial tips! so anyhow. from Singing, to Aspiring to do something with it, to playing piano, to eventually writing both melody and lyrics to songs... well Here I am. I can't help but think i am slowly improving! (if you think otherwise you better tell me. don't want me to be one of those clueless people in front of Simon cowell do ya?)
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Sometimes, not often though. Too much going on in the mean time. Love to perform, just have to work out the kinks still.
Your musical influences
I grew up on, and still love, Amy Grant. She is a wonderful artist, and lyricist. I admire the thick and thin she's been through to be where she is. I also enjoy: Mandy Moore, Michelle Branch, Sara Bareilles, Colbie Caillat, and more in that subtle down to earth, fun to hear and sing, still have some meaning kind of way. I especially like anyone who takes the time to be part of the process, and not just sing. Recently I just discovered that many of my favorite songs have one thing in common: Kara DioGuardi, so I guess I am a fan of her writing! :)
What equipment do you use?
I have a Tascam 122 interface, Sony Acid, and a new Yamaha YPG 635 keyboard that I record with (well. Will record with as soon as I figure out how to do that from the living room to the office). still just scratching the surface of possibilities on a tight budget. My mike was a $10 radio shack mic... haha!
Anything else?
Anything else? well... if you have a question or comment... PLEASE don't hesitate to email me. I love feedback, or helpful hints, and if you have questions that should go here, or I missed...ya. send them there! I am not afraid of the Simon's out there as long as its helpful criticism and not name calling! cassielynnes_music@yahoo.com
