Byron James is a self taught musician who found country music at the young age of seven. His grandfather established the "The Applenockers Band" of Dutchess County which played at community events and church socials with a horse drawn wagon complete with a piano and a six piece band. Byron's father continued the tradition years after and taught his son his first three chords. With siblings huddled up, he watched American Bandstand, picking up on rhythm and melody, and developing his love of music. From then on he played a handed down flat top , writing songs derived from random thoughts and observations.
While serving six years in the Armed Forces, he wrote a number of songs which are included on the album, "Blues Come Around." After three long years of combat, he returned home from Viet Nam. The members of "The Survivors" reunited as "The Return," playing for several years.
Byron then formed another band, "The Countryman II" before going on to establish "The Byron James Band," which continues to perform today. He continues to write songs, play at local clubs and events, and promote his music. Thanks for listening!
