Buddha Gonzalez was born on April 28, 1972 in Maryland, USA as Jose David Gonzalez. He is an American Singer, Songwriter, comedic actor and director, known for his comedic antics on the NBC nationally syndicated American television series Pitbull's La Esquina(2007 - 2009), USA Network Burn Notice(2010), ABC Karen Sisco(2003), 50 Million Dollars (2009), Immigration Tango (2010) and Super Bowl XLI Halftime Show (2007). Buddha Gonzalez is also known as the Frontman For Music Group MUTINY, MAGGOT OVERLORDS & THE HEADLESS CHIWAWAS.
Blending funk, new wave punk, Electro and psychedelic ambiance with macabre undertones, Buddha’s forceful and always comedic stage show is, in a word, intoxicating. His musical resume cites performance and recording collaborations with Cuban legend Fajardo y sus Estrellas, Juan Pablo Manzanero, Jerome “Bigfoot” Brailey of Parliament-Funkadelic, Amier Bayan of Kool and the Gang, Bill Laswell, and Buckethead, to name a few. Buddha Gonzalez recorded commercials for DirecTV, Amtrak, Mc Donalds, FORD. Coors Light, JCPenney, Burdines, Vico C, Marlins Baseball and Jose Cuervo.
Buddha released The Big Booty Show, on Lottsamama Music/BMI records in 2003, co-produced by KC and the Sunshine Band’s Rick Finch. In 2005-2006 The Son Of Funk united with George Clinton along with Gary Shider & Jerome Brailey of Parliament Funkadelic for George Clinton presents The Son Of Funk Tour. In 2014 Buddha Gonzalez Mutiny received two Grammy considerations for album Funk Rd on Catbone records.
In 2015 Buddha Gonzalez unites with Horror Host Mr.Lobo & Creature Feature Horror hosts of the past and present for new MAGGOT OVERLORDS album.
