Bruce Yi is an up-and-coming hip hop producer who began his passion for music at age 5. His unique beats combine his understanding and respect for the hip hop industry with his classical training in the violin and saxophone, even graduating with a music degree from Northwestern University. Although he ultimately chose to follow his hip hop roots, his formal training offers a unique and lyrical spin on traditional beats. His first big break came from Washington Wizard's Etan Thomas' album, "Moore than an Athlete" on the track "Wasted Talent". This track gained exposure on 95.5 FM in Washington DC and led to Yi's move to LA where he teamed up with other up-and-comers such as Johnny Polygon, out of Tulsa, Oklahoma . Polygon and Yi have played along side with De La Soul, KRS-One, and the Beatnuts. Bruce Yi has also been selected to produce beats for G4TV's "Freestyle 101" and BET's "Iron Ring".
Yi's uniqueness derives from his non-traditional roots, where he has lived along side folks of literally all ethnicities and classes. This perspective has sparked a furor inside of him that set him on his current path: to highlight everyday injustice and fight for equality through his music. In the meantime, he fights for himself: not only through beat-writing and producing, but also finding solace and discipline in boxing, where he has been the 2002 Chicago Golden Glove Featherweight Finalist, 2003 Chicago Golden Glove Bantamweight Finalist, 2004 VA State Featherweight Finalist, and 2006 California Golden Glove Semi-Finalist.
