Brian Holtz Music
I write original music and sound design for film, video, games and online media.
My approach is to support dramatic action and visuals and encompasses orchestral, electronic, found sound, guitars, basses and drums. My style is tends toward cinematics in orchestral, electronic, jazz and rock genres.
Band/artist history
I started playing piano at 5, grabbed my brothers unused electric guitar at 8 and have not stopped since.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I have played many gigs across the US and Europe in a variety of mostly rock bands. One standout memory is doing an unassisted wardrobe change in the middle of a set during a very brief lights out moment between songs. From standard grunge attire to single piece colored janitor jumpsuit in 1 minute.
Your musical influences
Hendrix stole my brain at an early age with help from Led Zep, BOC, German metal bands and early Motown. Current listenings include oneohtrix, Aphex Twin, Mick Gordon (DOOM) numerous motion picture composers and found sound.
What equipment do you use?
I have a large collection of guitars & basses weighted toward Fender Strats, Nord, Waldorf, Roland, Kord & Yamaha keys. Fender, 65Amps, Divided by 13, Boogie and Vox amps. Also a wide variety of outboard gear such as Tubetech, Avalon, Fearn, Empirical Labs, Toft. DAW's I use are: Sonar, Reaper & Cubase with many, many plugins.
Anything else?
Find happy accidents in music and exploit 'em.
